Coed Varsity Swimming · Swim Team looking to make a splash at Regionals

There is snow and ice outside, but the water inside the University of Louisville’s Ralph Wright Natatorium will play host to some hot competition this weekend!

On Friday February 7th and Saturday February 8th teams from Region 5 will compete in the Regional Championship Meet.  Friday night is preliminary round and the top 16 from each event will qualify to compete Saturday night in the Regional Finals.  Eastern is focused on winning our 3rd straight Combined Team Regional Title.  The primary teams battling for that crown will be Eastern, Collegiate, Christian Academy, Ballard, and KCD.

The boy’s team will be in a close battle with perennial power Trinity for the overall boy’s crown.  If the boys earn victory it would be the first time ever that Eastern has won an Individual Team Regional Championship in swimming.  The boys have a deep team led by brothers Keegan and Cason Henderson, along with Jake Cole.

On the girls side the team is led by Lily Jones, Olie Dabney and Hannah Schmidt as they try and build upon last year’s 7th place finish at the State Championship meet.  In a rebuilding year the ladies are hoping to maintain our status as one of the top teams in Region 5 and throughout the state.

These are the Region 5 teams competing today and tomorrow:

Trinity, Sacred Heart, Assumption, Christian Academy, Eastern, Collegiate, Ky Country Day, Mercy,  Ballard, Atherton, Brown, Fern Creek, and Whitefield Academy.

Good luck Eagles!
