Boys Varsity Bowling, Girls Varsity Bowling · Bowling Regional Wrap-up

Eagle Bowling bowled in the 4th Region Tournament this week with the girl bowling Tuesday in the singles event, with the top four individual bowlers going to the state tournament. Autumn Mendez was the top finisher for the Eastern girls. The boys singles event came Wednesday, and Xavier Mueller was the top boys bowler for Eastern in their singles event.

The team event was held Saturday, with the 12 boys teams and 6 girls teams, all hoping  for the regional title or runner up title to advance to the state tournament. The Eagle boys finished qualifying as the 6 seed led by, Will Gerber. The Eastern girls qualified as the 3 seed, led by Autumn Mendez.

Eastern boys opened bakers play best 3 of 5 match versus the 11 Seed Seneca, Eastern won the first game 201-137 and never looked back defeating the Red Hawks 3-0. Next came the 3 seed Brown Bears, last years Regional runners up, The Eagles got on the board first, winning 224-162, Brown answered winning game 2, 201-187. Eastern’s turn was next winning 219-201. Brown’s turn beating the Eagles 198-167. The fifth match was needed for the second year in a row between these two. Brown won the deciding game. Ending the Eastern boys season with a fifth place finish.

Our girls drew a first round bye when Sacred Heart had to withdraw, So the girls met the 2 Seed Brown, in a best 3 of 5 bakers match. The Eagles wasted little time claiming their state tournament placement by beating Brown 3 games to none. Top seed Manual, faced 4 seed St Francis. The winner facing our Eagle girls. Manual won their match 3 games to none as well. Manual defeated Eastern, 3 games to 0. Eastern girls bring home the regional runner up trophy for the second time in the last three years, and will bowl in the 2020 KHSAA State tournament 7 Feb, at 8:15am at Executive Lanes in Louisville.

The 4th Region All- Academic Team was named as well during the week. Your Eagles teams placed 8 members on that team.
