FIVE DAYS UNTIL SUMMER PRACTICE STARTS! As part of our “Get To Know The Staff” Initiative, we will be posting bios for all the coaches this summer. First up, our new Defensive Coordinator Charles “Dee” Mucker:
Born in Louisville and a 1989 graduate of Jeffersontown High School, “Dee” joined the Louisville Division of Fire in 1992 and retired as Colonel in 2012. During his career he received technician training in Hazardous Materials, Dive Rescue, Swift-water, Confined-space, Emergency Medical, and served 7 years on the Tactical Rescue Team. He retired from the Division in 2012 as the Executive Assistant Chief (Car 2) managing all day to day operations. In 2013, Coach Mucker began his second career as an ECE Teacher in Jefferson County Public Schools and is currently teaching at the Binet School.
He has a B.S. in Business Administration, a M.S. in Management, and a M.A.T. in Learning & Behavior Disorders (Spalding University) and has received several awards including the Outstanding Professional Award from Indiana Wesleyan University, the Professional Achievement Award (Louisville Defender), and has been included in the “Who’s Who” in Black Louisville publications (lastly 2012).
Coach Mucker’s football playing career was at Jeffersontown where he was an 1st Team All-District selection, received the Defensive Award his Senior year, and played in the East/West and Louisville/Indiana All-star games respectively.
He has 16 years of Coaching experience which includes time as: 7th & 8th grade and Freshman Head Coach, Junior Varsity Defensive Coordinator, Varsity Defensive/Offensive Line Coach, Varsity Linebackers, and Varsity Defensive Coordinator. He is joining the Eagle’s staff this season as the Defensive Coordinator and will coach the outside linebackers.
He is a member of First Baptist Church of Jeffersontown and of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He’s married to Lea Dorsey-Mucker and has one son Charles II, and one grandson Trai. His hobbies include fishing, bowling, and managing youth sports in Jeffersontown, where he is currently the President of Youth Football/Lacrosse.
